Every gal needs a little TLC at least once a week, and Doctor Lucy suggests a little facial pampering in the form of Quick Fix Masks.

I don’t have the best figure - I will be straight up. I am quite athletic in build - broad shoulders, boney but curveaous hips and chunky thighs with a bit of a ghetto bootie - but I am ok with that. For a long time, I regretted how I looked in tight dresses, but finally, I have stumbled across a fit that I am actually quite content in - basically the universal fit perfect for all women! The Pasduchas Exordium dress is the name, and purchase it you should. Throw on the most banging Nat Kent Triple Trillion necklace, and you are literally set for any event - Summer or Winter, high tea or cocktails - these key pieces will take you anywhere, and garner all the attention (in all the right ways).

I have a confession to make: I am a pretty terrible beauty blogger. I don’t wear foundation. Now, before you all start to shame me with boos, and ‘get off the stage’, I would like to point out, this hasn’t always been the case. For a long time now, I have suffered from pretty shit skin. However, over the past 6 months, my skin has transformed from acneic to pretty darn pleasant, and as a result, I am now able to go to work with a mere sunblock and mineral powder to keep me content!

There are days (a little too often than not), that I literally would rather chew my own toe off than wash my locks. The hours of arduously washing and drying my long hair could so better be invested in doing more fruitful things such as - learning to tightrope walk, cleaning out the cobwebs on the roof or trying my hand at yodelling!

For a long time now, I have been a ModelCo fan. My obsession started with their tan airbrush in a can, crept up with their face self tan and face base primer, and then dramatically peaked with fibre lash. Why, you ask?

Body wash.. I could talk about it all day, but, basically - it is essential for everyday, and essential you find one that works with you. I surely have stumbled across a plethora of crap ones. This is why, I would definitely call myself a body wash master. So, here are my favourites.

I have a rather large penchant for perfectly-proud brows, toned legs and mermaid hair. Sadly, the first two aren’t ever going to be achievable (darn you stumpy legs and John-Howard-rivalling brows), but the later, well, that has just been ticked off my bucket list with my latest adoption - Showpony permanent hair extensions.

I have a serious love for brands that can merge nature and skincare in one. Sure, I use many products that contain non-natural ingredients, but, where I can, I like to use products that come as close to nature as possible. And, People for Plants is most definitely one brand that I love, and want to introduce you to: so let’s chat my favourites.

Splurging large sums of money on cosmetics can be risky. I for one have spent thousands of dollars on lost skin-dreams, tarnished hopes and ‘youth serums’ that have garnered no results over the past 5 years. Alas, I have become almost a skincare connoisseur of sorts, and know how to sniff a good product out. Now, La Mer is a brand I have heard a lot about (and am a tad obsessed with their Hydrating Infusion), and was a little hesitant to trial their products for fear I would become addicted - and I have! Essentially, my back pocket will be a hell of a lot skinnier this year after my latest experience with the La Mer Brightening Essence Intense and Infusion Intense - one hell of an addiction as been uneathered!

I am pretty simple when it comes to what I like in a man. Sure, they might not be the easiest of men to find. I know a man with an accent and intelligence doesn't always turn up on the northern beaches of Sydney, but there is definitely one thing that literally causes fatal attraction with me and the opposite sex, and that is… a good scent! If a man walks past me smelling like the epitome of sexy, I will automatically fall in love *cue knees buckling *. Call it Lucy's Law, but a fresh, clean scent can win you brownie points with any woman, every time.

Every now and then, Women like to change up their look. However, being on the tight budget that I am (saving to move overseas steals all the fun!), a massive makeover isn’t exactly on the agenda. This is where my newest accessory comes in - my Fudge Urban Chalks!

I am ready to throw in the towel, and let the machines do all the work. I swear, machines are literally taking over the world: robots, automated push-a-button-turns-car-on cars, robot children - this world is not in the 1990s anymore, Toto! Sure, some might be a tad scary/overwhelming/invasion of the robotic type of emotions, but some are just plain awesome. Case in point: automatic facial cleansers (such as the Philips Visapure Facial Cleansing Brush).

I have a confession - I am pretty darn lazy when it comes to actually washing my hair. I prefer watching movies after a hard day at work as opposed to spending pain staking hours washing, drying and styling my locks. Thus, I am what some would call - ‘a dry shampoo connisseur - It is my second language. So, you could see why I like to take the subject very seriously.

I love weekends in Summer. Sure, I am not a big fan of the heat, nor do I have a tendency to just hang in the sun, but I most certainly love the ability to get away with wearing swimmers instead of clothes! So, here are my never fail essentials
Wednesday, February 19, 2014
The reason I have a shot of Kerastase and the Eiffel Tower is mostly because I love Paris, but also because, when you want to have the best clothes, you go to Paris, and thus, if you want to have the best haircare, you buy Kerastase (which is also French)!

Having lived overseas, you have a tendency to pick up certain cultures or habits and take them wherever you are. For me - organic was what I took from Austria, and have tried to implement in my life in Sydney. And this is where BIONADE comes in to play.

I am a romantic at heart. Don’t let my tough words fool you - I go weak at the knees for a little bit of chivalry and gooey romance.. Pity I have been single since, well: forever.

Very rarely will I purchase a brand on the recommendation of a beautician. I know that sounds silly, but I just don’t always trust them - I feel that they are just trying to up-sell me, and don’t have my skins’ best interests at heart. Luckily, having found my skin’s haven in Next of Skin, I trust them with all of my skin woes, and of course, I trust their judgement wholeheartedly.

Every second Sunday, I try and make a ritual out of nostalgic laziness- sleep ins, reading by the fireplace (in winter), breakfast in bed or not changing out of my pyjamas till midday. Sundays are my rest day - a day where I do not live by the clock, nor do I set any expectations. They are my bliss. My sanity’s lifeline. My sanctuary of sorts. Everybody needs a sunday!
Luckily, I am not the only one who believes this; thanks to Jo Malone’s new range of candles, aptly titled, Just Like Sunday, you can now be transported to a feeling of calm, sunshine and tranquility. An idealism of childhood memories, that see you embracing your inner sloth, and taking time out for yourself for a change. This is, by far, my favourite range - a range that I am probably going to start hoarding this month - we all know I have a deep-seeded obsession with this British brand.
|Jo Malone Green Leaf Tomato|
If you are in need of a little sunshine in your life, breathe a little lighter with the Jo Malone ‘Green Tomato Leaf’ Candle. Surreptitiously evocative, yet toned down with earthy and crisp tones, this lively scent has all your senses on alert, wondering what it will next throw at you. It is full of sunshine and tang, but that being said, it is calming and nonchalant, and will have you relaxing by your fireplace/ in the kitchen / in your crisp sheets, or wherever you light it - it truly is a must have for any season.
I was gifted the Jo Malone Green Tomato Leaf candle, but actually purchased the Lavender & Lovage, and too have been blown away with it. Laced with a deep herbaceous scent, this concoction of nasal nirvana is clean and relaxing, and has been in overuse this past 2 weeks (and I have depressingly, almost run out of it - I am an obsessive re-lighter).
Jo Malone ‘Just Like Sunday’ is also available in:
Sweet Almond & Macaroon
Lavendar & Lovage
Incense & Embers
RRP $105/ 200g
On another note, I need a new cologne! I am thinking, Jo Malone Velvet Rose & Oud or Jo Malone Iris & White Musk. Anyone keen to help me decide? Jo Malone makes the most delicate, yet alluring colognes - I could literally purchase them all!

Healthy hair is sexy. There really is no other word to describe it. Sadly, my hair has been living on the dangerous side of town, since being chemically saturated (oh, being a girl is so brutal sometimes) to obtain my optimal colour, and since Summer decided to hit and I found my love for my pool. It was only a few weeks ago that I realised that living on the D-side of hair town was not so much fun, and that I, in-fact, was in need of a little bit of hair TLC. Enter Aveda Dry Remedy range, and my locks are now becoming the envy of all!
The Aveda Dry Remedy System consist of a moisturising Shampoo and Conditioner, Masque and Dry Remedy Daily Moisturizing oil. All four products used together will, inevitably, have you bursting with smiles, as your hair will become so swishable and beautiful - you can’t help but show it off.
I am an all time sucker for hair masques, so it is no surprise that the Dry Remedy Moisturizing masque is my favourite. A weekly treatment, that seals in hydration with Aveda’s patented Deep-Moisture Complex featuring buriti oil. I use once a week as part of my Sunday ritual, and have even been wrapping it in cling-film, and letting it soak in for an hour - for even more silkiness. Definitely worth a purchase.
The Dry Remedy Daily Moisturising Oil, formulated without silicones, is a go-to daily nourishing oil that enhances shine, leaves you with tangle-free locks and doesn’t weigh the hair down like most oils usually would. Also a big favourite of mine. However, I do advise against leaving this beauty in the bathroom - some hair-oil thieves have decided they too love it, and have been stealing a swipe when I am not looking #FirstWorldBathroomSharingProblems!
What is so great about the range, - apart from the fact that it heals cray cray hair - is the fact that it uses natural ingredients, smells like one of my favourite scents (Lavender) and its ingredients are responsibly sourced. Aveda has always been a favourite brand of mine, and now - even more so!
Pick yours up today, and watch your dry locks transform

In case you aren’t already aware: I am a MASSIVE sun-protection warrior. I don’t leave home without a facial SPF, and will often throw on some 50+ for my car trip to work (those darn un-tinted windows of mine). But, allowing sunscreen to seep in has a toll on my patience, and this is where I have enlisted the help of a seriously nifty invention: Spray on spf.
Banana Boat do epic sunscreen: always have, always will: and their Ultra SPF 50+ is no different. A clear, high protection sunscreen spray, that is non-greasy, is sweat-resistant and lasts up to 4 hours in the water. This spray-on beauty is high performance at its best.
Sensitive skin often strikes me in the humid months, and Summer of 2013/14 was no different. Usually a bit of a song-and-dance, this Summer was different because I had this pure, organic goodness on hand to tackle dry patches, irritated arms and remove my eye make-up minus the sahara-rivalling aftermath.
Thank god for MV Organics: their products make my skin sing salutations!
2014 is all about being more ‘aware’ of what I am using on skin. Sure, not all products are ‘healthy’ for my skin, but I am slowly making small steps on this journey: starting with my body. People for Plants is a brand that is gradually taking over my usually ‘anal skincare’ routine, and this Body Scrub is the newest edition.
Papaya, Quillaja and Apricot are mixed together to create a low-abrasion scrub, that revitalises, soothes irritation and detoxes the skin of flakiness. With 85.4% Organic ingredients, you are sure to hit the jackpot in ‘clean’ body products here. Not to mention, the price is ridiculously low for natural goodness- Thank you nature!
They say beauty starts on the inside, and I would have to agree on some points. White Tea has always been a love of mine, for its somewhat dirty yet crisp taste, and its ability to ‘up’ my mood and leave me rather content.
Lotus Peak White Tea is carefully selected and harvested from the beautiful high mountains of China, and is rich in antioxidants - perfect for the skin. Investing in a little ‘me time’ has never been so beneficial.
What were you favourite products for January?

I will be honest - I absolutely (possible inclusive of an expletive) hate, with a passion, removing eye make up and lipstick! It is quite possibly the bane of my existence, and made a thousand times more arduous when it is 3 am, I am somewhat swayed by too many gin and sodas, and would rather be sleeping and resting my weary feet than removing my make-up. But, being the excellent beauty bible preacher that I am, I ensure that I do, because the minute I don’t, I will wake up with a blinder of a zit, and most likely have a date that weekend - aint pushing my luck!
But, in the spirit of all my dislike for removal, I was fortunate enough to have been gifted what is probably the biggest game-changer in my make-up removing life: Elemis White Flowers Eye and Lip Make-up remover ($49). I have never been one to believe that a single product could change your life so much, but this, my friends certainly has lead me to change my mind.
This make up remover is to be used with a cotton pad, wiping all over the face or just the areas of make up you wish to remove. It work as a bi phase make up remover (using oil and water), activated by a mere shake. It removes even the most stubborn of make up (think waterproof mascara -eek) in one swift movement, without dehydrating the skin (like many other removers do) thanks to added botanical oils that soothe.
Trust me, this make up remover will exceed all your expectations, and will be a positive addition to your cleansing routine.

Let’s be serious guys - I can’t live without my serums! Like seriously, that silky fluid is my liquid gold - fending off wrinkles, preventing further damage one day at a time. Now, lets talk favourites
$75 / 30ml
This pearlescent bottle of youth is the perfect leverage for those who want to honestly start thinking about defending their youth. Featuring a proprietary active complex (Naturadiance PB18+) to help increase elasticity, restore radiance and reduce the appearance of fine lines, you are sure to notice a difference with this little Australian grown gem.
For skin the glows year round, hop on the Herbal Recovery bandwagon today!
French and chic products is basically a given, so it is little wonder that this little silver bottle of reconditioning serum is a hit with my skin. Sure, I am a massive Francophile, but is more then just French brilliance. It uses exclusive patent-pending formula that helps to coax your skin back to a healthy, regenerative state. It transforms your skin by encouraging your body’s natural processes to produce more proteins like collagen and elastin, leading to more youthful skin.
If you weren’t already aware, the Dead Sea has seriously got some cool things going for it - and beauty brands have started to catch on. This delicious concentrate is the almighty when it comes to restoring hydration. It also does wonders for upping the anti on the glow-factor, and reducing the amount of moisturiser I need to use, thanks to its ability to recharge and rehydrate.
For those lacking illumination thanks to dehydrated skin - skip the expensive moisturises, and turn to this coruscate serum, deemed ‘hot property’ in my household!
Boots Laboratories Serum7 Beauty Serum
Having only just landed down under, this best-selling European beauty brand, which is scientifically proven to give you younger looking skin in 28 days, is sure making waves in this lasses life. Having stepped on the bandwagon early, I am more than accustomed to living an highly anal life when it comes to choosing anti-ageing skincare. Not one to pick a produce that doesnt live up to its name, I knew I was in for a treat with this little tube - and boy, was I right! In 1 month, my skin is more toned, refined and dewy.
Available in Amcal and Guardian Pharmacies.
Results Rx X-Cellerate Skin Rejuvenation Serum
I was prescribed this tiny bottle of revitalising serum but my favourite people at Next of Skin. I have so much pigmentation on my face, from years of sun-sinning when I was a little kid (don’t judge). This little serum is an exception skin brightening and stimulating corrective serum, that contains powerful antioxidants and botanical extracts to gently reveal lighter, brighter, more even skin.
I am pretty impressed with its results so far, and I reckon you would be too!
Do you use a serum??

Do you suffer from red patches on your cheeks? Does your skin reap what your stress levels have sewn by becoming sensitive, reddened and just plain eeeeep!!?? If so, follow me!
Skin discomfort is so 2013, but, with Jurlique’s new Calendular Redness Rescue Range, your skin can be caressed with nature’s original comforter- Calendula - picked from Jurlique’s very own biodynamic farms in Adelaide, with absolutely no synthetic chemicals used to grow them. Enriched with botanicals to help appease angry skin (such as Cucumber and Chamomile), this range assists in the rehabilitation of overly needy skin and helps to restore vitality to it within weeks. I could rave on and on about this range having gone through a period of skin sensitivity in November (which was kindly fixed up by this very range - hallelujah)!
The high performance Calendula Redness Rescue Calming Mist is by far my favourite from the range, with its proprietary Comfort Complex. Not only does it include the infamous skin restoring Calendula, but also Aloe and Linseed to bring new life to your dermis and acts as a light, refreshing toner to alleviate blotchy red patches.
The range is based around 3 principles (Calm, Restore, Soothe), that when used all together, will take your skin from rivalling a stressed-out HSCer, to a glowing goddess in no time.
Let nature work its magic with the Jurlique Calendula Rescue Range: a range you will end up thanking me for in next to no time.
Calendula Redness Rescue Calming Mist 100ml $55
Calendula Redness Rescue Restorative Treatment Serum 30ml $80
Calendula Redness Rescue Soothing Moisturising Cream 40ml $50/100ml $85
Do you suffer from redness?

Skin cancer is highly preventable, which breaks my heart even more when people inadvertently disregard their own safety, and start a fry-up... OF THEIR SKIN! As heart breaking as it is, I can’t help those who don’t want to be helped. So, instead of inundating you with the facts about skin cancers, I will help you, my lovelies, and tell you how you can best action a sun-safe life, and offer you my favourite facial sunscreen for Summer- Ultraceuticals SunActive SPF 50+ Face Cream.
Sunscreens for the face are traditionally of the oily variety. This is what sets Ultraceuticals SunActive SPF 50+ Face Cream from the rest, as its sheer, but even coverage-giving SPF is designed for those who don’t have time for thick, pore clogging creams, that just make you sweat like crazy. Nope! This little beauty is all for the active woman, in the form of its lightweightness, fast-absorbing(ness) and perfect(ness) for one the go! Having moody skin, I am pretty wary of what I put on my skin but have only had positive results with this baby.
Containing advanced antioxidants to protect the skin from solar induced free radical damage, and with regular use, it may even prevent solar keratosis, sun spots (the bane of my existence) and reduce the risk of skin cancers.
This 4 hours water resistance SPF is a sure-fire necessity in the Summer months, and has become a welcome addition to my skin-kit!
Love Luc X
